Paul Clark (Chief Executive, England Netball)

I am currently employed as Chief Executive of England Netball, the National Governing Body for the Sport and have held the position on a permanent basis since February 2008 following a ten month period as Interim CEO and an eight month spell as an Appointed Director on the Board of England Netball. I trained and practiced as a Physical Education Teacher between 1970 & 1979 before moving into the local authority leisure provision and between 1979 & 2000 I developed my knowledge and competency base and finally reached the position of Managing Director of Tandridge Leisure Trust in 2000. I played a fundamental role in establishing the Trust as an Industrial and Provident Society, outsourced from the Council and successfully led the organisation for the first seven years of its operation. Sport is one of my passions so in effect my career has taken me full circle from the encouraging and enabling participation in sport as a Teacher to leading and developing a Governing body committed to the same ambition. I am ambitious for the sport of Netball as I believe it can play a greater role in the empowerment of women – we want to grow the number of people playing the game; we want to be regarded as the first choice sport for women & girls; we want to be the No 1 team in the world [currently ranked 3]; we want to be included in the Olympic programme and; we want to host the 2015 Netball World Championships.
