Carol Isherwood has been a leading figure in women's rugby for over 25 years as a player, coach and administrator.

As of September 2009, she became the first female to be appointed to the IRB Rugby Committee.

As a founder member of the Rugby Football Union for Women, Isherwood pioneered the development of the women's game in England.
