Aarti Singh Dabas was the first Media Rights & Broadcast Manager appointed by the ICC in June 2007. Her key responsibility is to oversee the management of various media rights contracts – TV, radio, fixed media, news access including the billion dollar media rights contract with ESPN STAR Sports. Her role also involves creating and implementing strategies for ICC TV programming, archives management and footage licensing.
Aarti ‘s broadcast career began more than a decade ago at Trans World International (TWI) in India working as a news reporter /assistant producer for various sports news and magazine programmes. During her four years at TWI, she covered sports as diverse as chess, boxing, equestrian, hockey and cricket. In 2002, she moved to Dubai to set up sports news programming for the newly launched South Asian sports channel – TEN Sports. She spent four years at TEN Sports, working as a Producer on various documentaries, feature programmes and live cricket including India’s historic tour of Pakistan in 2004.
In October 2006, she set up her own production company in Dubai and acquired live cricket Outdoor Broadcast productions and sports feature shows. In 2007, she was hired by Global Cricket Corporation as Producer of the world feed for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in the Caribbean.
Aarti grew up in India and during her university days in Delhi, worked with a leading Indian newspaper – The Indian Express, on their sports desk.
She is married and lives in Dubai with her husband Brian Murgatroyd.
